This awesome antique plate features colorful peony blossoms on yellow along with two floral black bands. An intermediate band alternates between yellow and white. The entire decoration is hand-enameled on a white blank. Size: 9¾ inches. The back of the plate is marked "Nippon" in a red garland and also has an impressed Imperial chop mark. Famille jaune is French for "family yellow". Condition: there are no cracks, chips or repairs; the yellow/white band has one small glaze/enamel miss (see photo #5); there is one small nick on the back edge of the plate - this was done at the time of manufacture and glazed over at the factory. This piece dates from the 1890's.
NOTE: This plate should be used for decoration only, as the enamel used contains lead.
