Nua Oon is an endangered Asian elephant who was born on June 12, 2004. She was 15 yrs old when she painted this picture. This scene of two elephants, a tree, and the sun is her thing, and she loves to paint it.
Throughout history, elephants have been revered by the Thai people and remain a permanent symbol of their culture. The Asian elephant population has significantly declined due to habitat loss and agricultural mechanization. Regrettably, these beautiful animals are now on the endangered species list. As we learned from the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon, an immediate and honest conservation effort must be made to defend the Asian elephant against its extinction.
