Rare Murano Ruby Red Hand Blown Glass and Hand Painted mini-Jewish Kiddush Cup Made in Italy on the Italian Island of Murano in Venice. Generations of glassmakers have toiled on this famous Island of Murano making glass Objects of Art by hand “the old fashioned way” since 1100 or so…that’s about 1000 years of tradition.
Dimensions: 4 5/8” tall, 2” wide at mouth and the same at base.
The gold is real 24KT gold flecked paint. Two Jewish symbols are highlighted: The Star of David and The Menorah. Between them is a white paint spackled floral design that’s abstract. Nice flourish. The artist was having fun. There’s even a splash of white paint on the underside that splashed out when the artisan was painting this!
This creation from Italy was made about 1975, so it’s 50 years old or so. But it was never used. Just carefully stored. In mint unused condition. Only marking is residue of a price tag on bottom of base.
This mini Kiddush Cup is cute, perfect as decor or for use on Shabot.
