A pair of large Chinese porcelain vases, each measuring approximately 14 inches in height, finely hand decorated in the famille rose palette. The bodies are richly painted with the auspicious “Hundred Boys” (百子图) motif, depicting children at play within a garden landscape among pavilions, trees, and rockwork. Each vase is further adorned with applied red deer head handles, symbolizing prosperity and longevity.
The bases bear apocryphal Qianlong (乾隆年製) reign marks, in keeping with the tradition of honoring earlier imperial periods. The quality of the enameling, subject matter, and stylistic features are consistent with production of the Republic period (early 20th century). Together, this pair represents a fine example of decorative porcelain created with strong auspicious symbolism, combining themes of familial prosperity, happiness, and long life.
