A vintage gravy boat featuring a rich mulberry red transfer image commemorating President Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg address at the dedication of the Soldier’s National Cemetery, November 19, 1863. Although unmarked, it is known to be crafted in the U.S.A. by Homer Laughlin, and was produced as part of the “Historical America” series, circa 1940s to 1960s. The image of Lincoln, dignitaries, military officers, and other attendees grace both sides of the vessel as well as geometric and floral designs adorning the serving handle.
It measures 8 3/4” long (handle to tip) by 3 3/8” high by 3 3/4” wide. (All approx.) This is likely a hand-wash only item.
Except for a small chip at the spout and a little discoloration, this wonderful piece is in nice condition with no cracks, repairs, or crazing. It would make a wonderful display or a nice addition to a Historical America collection. It would also make a nice gift for that special person that collects or appreciates americana.
